Sausages in a Blankie!

So we had these sausages in the fridge and  Anya loves sausages. But I decided to give them a twist today. A twist of bread roll around them that is! ;)
I had seen the pics on Picasa a lot and have also found them in the local Chinese bakeries. They are functional of course (no sliding out sausages from bread) but they also look really cute....like babies wrapped in a blankie! :p
So I made the bread roll dough as per the recipe Here. And then continued to make the Wrapped Up Sausages.
All you need (over n above the dough ingredients) is:
- sausages
- 1 egg lightly beaten (for basting)
- butter to paint the finished rolls with a shine!

So when the dough is ready and divided into separate balls, wash n pat dry the sausages. Roll each individual ball of dough into a long snake (lol as anya called it! - read pipe).

Now just roll the snake..umm blankie! Around the sausage like such. Make sure to tuck in the head n tail. And let the baby breathe! Leave  the head peeping out above the wrapped dough.

Leave them in a warm place for a bit. To fluff up! And dont they look cute!
We also made some vegetarian rolls - cheese n spring onion roll n a cheesy twist.

Once they are fluffed up, pop them onto a baking tray lined with baking paper and put'em into an oven (pre-heated to 200 degrees). After 10 minutes or so slightly brush on some beaten egg and back in.

Take them out when golden brown and now brush some butter on for the shine!

Our Sausages in a blankie! Playful food! Yum
